Founder
Mark is an operations management generalist, a supply chain specialist, and an expert CPI Coach/Facilitator/Trainer/Practitioner with 30-plus years of both manufacturing and service sector experience.
His journey started as a Supply Officer in the United States Navy. During his time, he served on both a submarine and an aircraft carrier. His shore assignment includes duty in Washington DC, Bahrain, Morocco, and London, England, supporting various U.S. Navy Logistics, acquisition, and petroleum management functions. While in London, Mark became a command trainer and facilitator for Total Quality Leadership, which began his journey as a lifelong learner to develop, hone and evolve his CPI Practitioner skills.
Upon retirement from the Navy, Mark joined a start-up capital equipment manufacturing company as a Materials Manager. His responsibilities were to oversee the design, implementation, and sustainment of supply chain processes for complex discrete manufacturing of semiconductor process equipment. The processes provided the agility to support sales growth from $4 to $120 million in a 24-month period which included the introduction of 4 new major product lines to the market.
In 1999, Mark began his consulting career with a boutique consultancy focused on operations management. A key project was with an 800-bed teaching hospital. Mark worked with supply partners to implement a just-in-time flow of pharmacy and hospital supplies. The project resulted in lowering the inventory value for the hospital by 40% with improved daily fill rates for supplies.
In 2005, Mark joined the George Group, a premier boutique consulting firm for lean six sigma. Accenture acquired the George Group in 2007 to improve its process improvement expertise. One of the highlights of working with Accenture/George Group was supporting the Joint Program Office for Mine Resistant Ambush Protection (MRAP) vehicles. Consulting efforts of the MRAP team resulted in the increased daily output from 10 to over 50 integrated vehicles a day, exceeding mandated production goals set by the United States Congress. Mark trained over 1000 executives and managers as lean champions in his time with Accenture/George Group.
In 2016, Mark joined the Jabil global lean team as a director with the responsibility to maintain and improve Jabil’s silver training, which defined its business transformation strategy and deployment model. He also provided coaching and deployment support to multiple Jabil sites. Mark established and managed a lean community practice for 200 lean practitioners to sustain and execute principle-based and lean systems driven across a network of 28 major worldwide manufacturing sites.
In 2019, Mark founded S.Q.V. Consulting to provide a “Back to the Basics” approach to any business that needs to establish an Enterprise Business Management System or to jump-start a stalled CPI effort. The goal is “Changing Work for the Better”.
